Your mission

Are you passionate about technology, have a keen eye for detail and have extended knowledge on polymers, to work with the latest technology to operate extrusion machines?

At 3devo, we develop advanced hardware and services that help businesses innovate more sustainably within the Additive Manufacturing and Polymers industries. We’re currently looking for an Operator of our newest extrusion machines in our R&D lab, to develop and assure the quality of our future product line-up.

In this role, you will be responsible for executing and developing material spools and profiles, and autonomously run multiple extrusion machines to gather data and high quality 3D printing filament. You’ll help bridge the gap between R&D, customer applications, and commercial efforts by delivering tangible outcomes and actionable knowledge.

This is a hands-on, technical role ideal for someone who enjoys working in a dynamic, innovation-driven environment. We’re looking for a creative, curious, and results-oriented team member who wants to push the boundaries of what's possible with materials and extrusion technology.

Your day-to-day responsibilities:

At the Utrecht headquarters, you are in charge of running multiple extrusion machines to extrude waste into new, 3D printable filament.
You work closely together with our head of material science, to understand the polymer and bring feedback to our software and hardware development teams.
Research and test material compatibility and performance to support sales and product development
Develop and document best practices, material recipes, and processing methods
Stay up to date with trends in polymer science and additive manufacturing to verify and test new business opportunities
Maintain accurate records of lab results, findings, and repeatable test protocols
Ensure lab equipment is well-maintained and organized for efficient experimentation
Participate in internal knowledge-sharing sessions to upskill the team and improve technical support

Your profile

Technical vocational degree (MBO or equivalent)
Experience operating production or lab equipment, ideally extrusion (single-screw/twin-screw), compounding, mixing, or other continuous process machinery.
Basic polymer literacy: understands melt behavior, moisture sensitivity, additives, fillers, and the practical impact of temperature, shear, and residence time on material quality.
Hands-on mentality and enthusiasm for identifying, testing, and solving practical challenges
Scientific mindset with a creative, problem-solving approach
Comfortable working independently in a lab setting and managing multiple projects
Experience with technical documentation and translating test results into clear, usable insights
Growth-oriented and curious, always looking to improve methods and expand technical knowledge
Good communication skills in English, both written and verbal
Bonus: familiarity with extrusion, filament production, or related manufacturing processes
